I kept seeing the Apple store online gradually reducing the lead times and did purchase one from Hong Kong through ebay (good little gadget and a single unit for both USB and SD cards.
I popped by P C World yesterday in West London and found the kit in stock so assume now that it is universally available.
About time too....
