You may want to "invest" in lenses for it (like zoom, macro or whatever), such that you have either the best pictures (from fixed lenses) or a good compromise between quality and portability (like from zoom lenses).

That portability also includes avoiding dirt. I once got something "huge" on the sensor when swapping lenses in the wild. I now default to a 16..300mm zoom lens and a set of add-on macro lenses. And a set of add-on filters (color and polarization).
I could use a remote shutter with it. But I could use a smartphone on a selfie-stick, hold it under the hood of a mushroom, and control it from a smartwatch. Try that with a DSLR...

Thank you all for your responses. After looking at the article reviewing the lenses (thank you Pat), I have decided to stick with my dedicated camera which is much more bulky than an iPad with lenses but which offers a lot more zoom power.
