Re: [iPad] Applecare with money on Apple account

I doubt that such a purchase is possible if your money is in an iTunes account.  You can buy hardware and related items using an Apple Store card.  I don't know if you can transfer funds between the two, but you might call Apple to ask.

I'm sure the question has come up MANY times, because Apple specifically says that you can NOT.

Perhaps a little more background would be in order.

Barclaycard and Apple offer an "Apple Rewards" Barclaycard VISA, that gives a 3% rebate on any purchases from Apple, plus 2% back on restaurants and 1% on everything else.

I signed up for this when I bought my iPad "Baby Pro" at the end of March, getting the rebate on the cost of the 128 GB Wifi+cellular iPad.

They provide the rebate in the form of an Apple Store Card, in increments of $25 value, as you accrue points.

They specifically state that the Apple Store card cannot be used for iTunes purchases. (Although I didn't pay close attention, it's possible I could alternatively have chosen an iTunes Store card, which would then NOT be used for Apple Store purchases.)
