Re: [iPad] iOS 10 & more

In years past, people were talking about Apple's keynote right after it aired on forums, like this one. They were so excited to get their hands on the latest updates. This year everyone seems uninterested.

I suspect it's Tim, Alice. No magic.

Of course you do.

You still don't, eh?

There isn't any magic.
There never was.
There's engineering; there's organization; there's management.

Never forget that Jobs hired Cook in 1998 and hand-picked him for CEO after working closely with him for over 12 years.

I wonder whether Steve identified so closely with Apple that he didn't fully appreciate how important he was to the image.  Apple was a blinding success only when he was at the reins.  People cared about Steve, personally, and believed him when he spoke.  They caught his enthusiasm.  That's a salesman:  you believe what he says; you like him.  You feel good when he's in the room.

Now, Apple is the quality leader among the me-too tiny tech companies, but no more.  Tim goes through the this-is-SO-exciting motions, but they don't fit him.

Magic is gone.  Apple does not sing.  And that's OK, so long as Mr. Cook does not actually destroy the company by making a major strategic blunder, such as, say, eliminating the Macs side.  Fingers crossed.  Money men are capable of anything.
