They aren't that heavy. And weight aside, does that fit the bill?

Its bigger and heavier than a tablet. If they made a netbook of sorts, a 9.7 tablet, yep thats a viable option

And a MacBook Air doesn't fit the bill? What if they made the keyboard detachable?
