Re: [iPad] Any Black Friday iTunes gift card sales?

Allhallowtide,[1] Hallowtide,[2]Allsaintstide,[3] or the Hallowmas season,[4][5] is the triduumencompassing the Western Christianobservances of All Hallows' Eve(Hallowe'en), All Saints' Day (All Hallows') and All Souls' Day,[6][7] which last from October 31 to November 2 annually.[8][9] Allhallowtide is a time to remember the dead, including martyrssaints, and all faithful departed Christians.[10] The present date of Hallowmas (All Saints' Day) and thus also of its vigil (Hallowe'en) was established for Rome perhaps by Pope Gregory III (731-741) and was made of obligation throughout the Frankish Empire by Louis the Pious in 835.[11]Elsewhere, other dates were observed even later, with the date in Ireland being 20 April.[12] It was only in the early 11th century that the modern date of All Souls' Day was popularized, after Abbot Odilo established it as a day for the monks of Cluny and associated monasteries to pray for the dead.[13][14]

And my favorite.

Day of the Dead (SpanishDía de Muertos) is a Mexican holiday observed throughout Mexico and around the world in other cultures. The holiday focuses on gatherings of family and friends to pray for and remember friends and family members who have died. In 2008 the tradition was inscribed in the Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanityby UNESCO.[1]

It is particularly celebrated in Mexico where the day is a public holiday. Prior to Spanish colonization in the 16th century, the celebration took place at the beginning of summer. It was moved to October 31, November 1 and November 2 to coincide with the Roman Catholic triduum festival of AllhallowtideAll Hallows' EveHallowmas, and All Souls' Day.[2][3]Traditions connected with the holiday include building private altars called ofrendas, honoring the deceased using sugar skullsmarigolds, and the favorite foods and beverages of the departed, and visiting graves with these as gifts. Visitors also leave possessions of the deceased at the graves.

Scholars trace the origins of the modern Mexican holiday to indigenous observances dating back hundreds of years and to an Aztec festival dedicated to the goddess Mictecacihuatl. The holiday has spread throughout the world, being absorbed within other deep traditions for honoring the dead. It happens to be a holiday that has become a national symbol and as such is taught (for educational purposes) in the nation's schools, but there are many families who are more inclined to celebrate a traditional "All Saints Day" associated with the Catholic Church.

I will presume that question is serious…

"All Hallow's Eve" is the night just before "All Saints Day" — November 1.

That's the origin of the name.
