It could easily compare. I think the iPhone 5 8MP does just fine under many if not most situations I end up in.

It might be a great camera FOR A PHONE, but any cellphone camera is a long, long, LONG way from being a great camera by any modern, objective standard.

Let me know when it's got a high-quality optical zoom, interchangeable lenses, and noiseless ISO 6400 imaging.
