BestPKSI strongly echo two of the responses;First, many programs try to re-compress the resulting image too much-- check the settings of any such program, make sure it isn't (for instance) preparing a smaller size for sending in mail.More than that, though, you might be noticing the results of pictures taken in low light. Automatic cameras of all types have this issue, which for many reasons is much more noticeable after cropping or changing contrast.Mitch

The saved image tends to be very grainy in many cases ( but not always).
What could be the reason?
