Re: [iPad] iPad Mini

I read my nook at home, during lunch, on planes, on vacation; I don't hang out in coffee shops. Maybe others are like me so you won't see us out and about?

Aha.  Fits in purse.  So maybe the mini form factor is more attractive for someone who already carries a purse, as most men don't.  In fact, my iPad has become a sort of purse for me, come to think of it.  The case also carries headphones and has room for a charging cord and a few papers.

Be interesting to see how this works out by gender.  I wonder if this form factor is more attractive to women for that reason.

It's odd, reading how well the iPad's sold, that I've seen so few of them in coffee shops around here (southwest Ohio).  It's overwhelmingly laptops.  I'm usually the only person using one - occasionally along with another guy - never, I think, a woman.  But, then, come to think of it, I've *never* noticed *anyone* in Starbucks or Caribou with a Kindle-sized device.  Where do they use them?

Of course, humans are creatures of habit, and major changes in behavior can take decades to form and become rooted.  Most people, I think, won't begin to behave differently until "everyone else is doing it".

Well, they got one from me, because it's smaller, lighter and will fit in my (not very large) purse!

It only makes sense because people claim they need that form factor. It's a book sized vs a magazine sized apparatus. I wonder how many preorders they'll get?

I've not figured out what it's for.  Too big to hold comfortably in one hand and too small to use as a substitute iPad.  I think Jobs was probably right - it doesn't make sense.

Thought of buying one just to get the feel of it, but with new iPads and iPods in the store soon, spending $400 for a "maybe" experiment seems wasteful.
