I like Daisy Disk for finding large files an analyzing your disk usage. And there are applications that can find orphans, temp files and other stuff that can be eliminated.

But if it's rapidly filling, as you said, then perhaps you need to upgrade the drive. I think 1TB 2.5" drives are going for about $125, which is pretty reasonable.
