An 'investment' isn't really an issue since you can return anything you buy from Apple within two weeks with no fees &, if I recall correctly, they even pay the return postage.

I agree. The watch works on all natural skin colors. The inks of tattoos block sensor light. It's unfortunate, but I don't imagine a workaround will be easy -- or even possible.
Any scientists or engineers in the group have insight into the situation?
