Maybe they were. And maybe since the portion of the population that has them is so small that it was set aside as a "Concern"

But I would have thought that tatts would have been on the radar to cater for, or at least state thatthere may be issues before people invested

I agree. The watch works on all natural skin colors. The inks of tattoos block sensor light. It's unfortunate, but I don't imagine a workaround will be easy -- or even possible.
Any scientists or engineers in the group have insight into the situation?
