[iPad] Re: Apple to wind back the clock to '09 with focus on quality, not f

I somehow doubt US Standards enforcement would find it useful to hamstring America's most successful business to promote uniformity for its own sake.  Big as it is, Apple is just one choice for personal electronics.  If it is important to the individual consumer to have devices from different companies work together seamlessly it's not like there aren't plenty of options available from other tech giants.  Maybe they'll find their "perfect" elsewhere.

I run an all Apple household.  Is everything perfect?  No.  But rather than focus on (to me) minor issues, I am constantly blown away by the incredible advances in technology I have witnessed to date.  I am amazed that there haven't been more glitches along the way rather than too many.  For me, life is too short to spend it kvetching.  Perfection is a fine abstract goal, but since all companies are run by humans not gods, we are unlikely to ever see it attained.  Besides, one person's "perfect" is another's "error."  My 2 cents.

Apple insists on adding proprietary eccentricities in its hardware as well as software. Neither wifi nor Bluetooth of Apple devices will work with any other mobile device. Similarly the connector is also a non standard.
Going remains good as long as it succeeds but it may collapse if US Standards enforcement takes action.

Therein lies the problem, I suppose. Apple engineers may simply have bitten off more than they can chew. It may be that there are more variables than anyone could deal with successfully.
