When I take a telephone number of a contact, I do not ask him if he owns/ uses an iPhone.
In any case, some of my contact numbers were taken few years ago. They might have switched over to iPhone ( or vice versa ) .

my wife took the iphone to a sprint tech shop where they talked about a fix that contains a step i'd never seen or heard anyone write or speak about before...that step, shown underlined and in maroon below, is:after deleting all non-iphone contacts whose phone numbers are NOT in 10-digit form, plus deleting all messages to/from those contacts and all phone calls to/from those contacts, do a hard reboot (home button+power button until apple logo appears) before re-establishing the contacts, this time each one with a 10-digit phone number....the tech did that with one such contact to show that it enables the phone to send text messages to non-iphones --- and it worked!...so, our task now is to go through all the contacts, make the necessary deletions, hard-power down and then add them again...i can only hope this will fix the problem for all the non-iphone contacts.timp.s. given that this fix works it is incredible that, so far at least, i've never read about it anywhere on any board --- and it's been an ongoing problem since at least 2008!On Nov 19, 2014, at 3:03 PM, Tony tdale@xtra.co.nz [iPad] wrote:Can you give us a link to a message board, that may help us get more info.As said, texts (SMS) are nothing to do with iMessage, they are part and parcel of every cellphone capability.
