I guess it was more than a year old? Hardware is warranties for a year.  What happens when you go 180 it just crashes? Reboots?

Mine, after an update maybe a year ago, will pass only 720, not 1080.  If I watched TV, that would bother me a lot.  But my wife, the TV watcher, doesn't seem to mind.  I'd say my Apple TV may have bricked itself.

I updated iPad Air2, iPad Minir! IPhone6 and iPhone5 
All fine. I plugged each into a power source first, then updated. I'm going to do a couple of computers today. I probably should do Apple TV but I often brick that device. I have no idea why that happens. I don't touch it or turn it off. It just happens. I think I've bought maybe four apple tvs in as many years.

We all seem to be having different things happpen!  In the meantime, I had the exact same thing happen as you did.  Two newer ones (iPhone 6 plus and Air 2) went through the procedure, the older ones (iPhone 5 and iPad Mini) didn't.  And all of them are working just fine now.  I'd say that's the main thing.  <happy.gif>

I updated four iOS devices yesterday & had to go through that process on the newer ones (iPhone6 & iPad Air 2), but not on the two older devices.  All are operating well after the update.  There were also lengthy updates to Yosemite for Macs & the Apple TV.

I was convinced that in such a short amount of time surely my whole iPhone could hardly need to be completely set up again, but that was still a bit scary!   So I went ahead and configured it, chose a WiFi network to join, etc., and then--big sigh of relief--there was my homepage, complete with all my apps and even a notification!  So if this happens to anybody else, do not despair:  you won't have to re-setup your whole device, you'll just have to do the preliminaries!
