No they do not any more. I am using yahoo IMAP with thunderbird on this computer now, and I didn't pay a dime for it.
Yahoo charges an extra yearly fee to use IMAP on a computer, on a mobile device it's automatic without the extra yearly fee.Pete
After many years of POP email and carrying it over to a new computer, I finally got my entire family to stop using client software and just use Gmail or Yahoo with IMAP.
With IMAP, you just go to the Gmail/Yahoo Trash folder and retrieve the item you accidentally deleted.

Sent from my iPad AirI use POP on multiple devices because I don't want to either keep
everything-on-everything or accidentally delete something (that I don't want
on my phone) and not get it later on my PC where I do want to keep/deal with
it.
My system works for me; others would find it highly inconvenient!
YMMV.

POP is good if you have only one mail machine. Increasingly, we have many.
