Please excuse my absentmindedness if I've already posted it. =^o I live in a 2 story house, bedrooms and kitchen front door all upstairs. Downstairs I have a 60" TV. And my Mac mini. But I live primarily upstairs. Now. My Apple TV serves a the video that my house gets. I don't use cable tv. My recliners are downstairs and watching tv is fairly comfortable. Recently I've been using my iPad instead of my tv to serve me video. And I gotta say. It's quite nice. Instead of sitting six feet back (2 meters ish) I set it a few inches away. The screen still fills relatively the same portion of my visual field. It uses less power than my tv. It travels to my kitchen if I want when I'm cooking or heck my bathroom too ya know? I think I will phase out my tv. And yes I've sat with a friend and we've watched shows on my iPad. Certainly cinematic masterpieces won't be the same on an iPad as with surround sound. In my experience those are a tiny fraction of my viewing time. Anyway. Just thought I'd share.
