Re: [iPad] IPad Air strange behavior

Fixed.  Thanks.  No sound.  Tried so many things that I'm not sure what worked.  Might have been a command-f5.  Just the sort of thing a four-footed random walker might type.  Whatever it was wasn't obvious.  I'd really expected the fix to take a lot more work.

Electronics.  Software.  Too many interacting parts.  Every time my PC boots successfully, it's like a little miracle.  So much could go wrong.  And our civilization rests - not terribly securely - on all this stuff almost always being designed right and rarely failing.

That's a big topic.  Worth a long discussion.

At the moment, I'm having a knock-your-head-against-the-wall maintenance issue with a Mac Book Air that's my music server.  Cat walked on the keyboard and made an unfortunate and critical change I can't see how to undo.  Will eventually figure it out, but the wasted time and the frustration are what I've learned to expect from Windows.  I was hoping I'd see no more of that with Apple.  Wrong.  Sigh.

Well I have read a lot about Mac maintenance, which I thank Randy for. How does that differ from Windows maintenance? Note that I have an iMac, Windows 7 laptop, and iPhone and iPads

I agree David. Windows maintenance is why I switched to Apple in 2006. To this day, I've never been happier.

I don't hate Windows, but I'm tired of the maintenance.  Apple ought not to fall into that hole.

I thought Windows patented the blue screen of death.  On a Windows machine it's the last thing you ever see.  Did I mention I hate Windows? :)

I heard from my tech friend.
He said, "Not unusual. These blue screens are common. Basically it¹s caused by a
compatibility issue between one of the apps and the iOS. The iOS is
64-bit, and not all of the third party apps have been converted. I think
Apple will quash these bugs with 7.1, which is due to come out soon."

This morning I unplugged my iPad.  I turned it on the Apple emblem showed up on the screen, was there a long time, it  flashed a blue screen and went back to black. Again the Apple icon came on took a long time/blue went back to black. Thus happened a good six or seven times. I tried holding down the buttons and finally plugged it into the computer. It did not show up in iTunes but after about a minute I had the homescreen.
