Samsung makes profits on the components sold for iPhone and iPad too.

The difference is that if Apple is asked (by Samsung) to include too large a margin on what they (Apple) pay for parts, they will go to a different supplier, or BUY a company that can make parts for them.

Apple assembles the parts into an iPhone or and iPad, and sells it to US for the large margin.

For many of us, who are unwilling to settle for less well made products or whatever, she *will* buy Apple, just after saving up money for a longer time.
