Pete,  she was referring to the specifications of the antenna she was looking at for her rooftop.  They spec TV antennas in “miles to transmitter”… a rather nebulous measurement but it does provide an idea of reception ability when comparing antennas.

 

We still don’t know actually how far away the TV transmitters are from her residence.

150 miles? At that distance hills don't matter because the horizon is in the way. A small boat might only be able to get cell phone reception 10 miles offshore because after that it is below the horizon. Here's a link to a line of sight calculator.
