RE: [iPad] ED

With the information you have provided,  ( I still don’t know how FAR the broadcast transmitters are from your home, nor if there are mountains  in the way ),  I would highly suggest that any indoor type antenna is inadequate.  I get away with an indoor antenna at my home only because the transmitters for our local TV broadcasts are merely 5 miles away and they are line of sight.

Yes,  I think an outdoor antenna on your roof will make a big improvement.  Be sure it is properly installed by either a professional or at least someone who actually knows what they are doing.

We have an RCA antenna with rabbit ears that is amplified. We have another flat antenna that is amplified. The antennas are near a north window and about three feet from the TV. We only use one :)
According to the FCC we are suppose to receive ABC, CBS, NBC, FOX, PBS. The PBS is from University of North Carolina and their transmitter is to our west. The other transmitter is to our east and further away. PBS comes in the best. I plan on getting one of those metal ones that go on the roof. The one I am looking at picks up to 150 miles away, given no big hills in between.
Must be better than what we are receiving since HD, and no Dish TV.
