I am for it, because poor people and carriers that want to offer their
customers iOS and apps at price many people can afford need this
product.
Yes I know it could not have gorilla glass, metal cases, etc. and
while it would be same form factor / size for accessories viewpoint
many people who want the sturdier iPhones we have today can keep
buying them at 4-10 x the price point of these cheap Android killers.
Heck they could even support USB chargers or sell chargers separately.
And be exempt from AppleCare, the carrier insurance would deal with
it.
It is important to not let that under 20% market share dip even lower
while Androids share keep growing fast - it will eventually lead to a
VERY strong Android Play Store unless stemmed. Google could copy just
a few tricks from Apple's playbook and the App store advantage
(Quality and Quantity and iTune content) could be made much less
significant unless Apple "cuts off their oxygen" before they catch up
to a "good enough level" that customers think is AppStore competitive
even if substanitvely not.
Those who think it does not matter think of how few corporate apps are
available on Macs since they let IBM clones running Windows into their
space without responding aggressively with cheaper machines running
Finder / OSX. Not everybody can afford a iPhone and will then never
know how many apps and how smooth the experience is, and became so
devoted they upgrade to the high end one we use now instead of
buying/upgrading a few Androids in a row.
