I use Monoprice cables for everything in my house. They work wonderfully and at such a low price I wind up getting an extra just in case.  None of my Monoprice cables have gone bad yet.  Even Leo Laporte uses all Monoprice cables in his house. Monoprice.com, a great place for cases too.

Kris, you had it right before. "The searching for signal" is an input problem related to the HDMI. It might be a bad cable, wrong setting on the TV, or the ATV itself. I'm betting a better quality HDMI cable will fix the problem. Lynn can also try just disconnecting and reconnecting the HDMI cable connected to her TV or swapping it with the one used by the Bluray player.
