Do a YouTube search for iFixIt. They do video tear downs and how to install and/or replace computer stuff like HD's.

My brother in law has an iMac on order. Until recently, he has been using a Mini Mac. His minimac died (cause of death unknown at this point...) but he is happy to have a capable replacement on the way. My question: assuming that his hard drive on the Mini Mac is still viable,is it possible to remove the hard drive, put it in an enclosure with a USB adapter, and attach it to the iMac when it arrives, and retrieve his data off it? I told him that in the PC world, this sort of thing is entirely possible. But I'm not sure how "locked down" the mini is, or if it is at all.
Thanks!
Linda
