My experience has been that you get a kernel panic if you try to install an older version of the OS than what the computer originally shipped with. I saw this 2 days ago when I tried to install my retail Snow Leopard (10.6.0) disk on a mini that originally shipped with 10.6.3. The problem cured itself after finding the original discs.

A kernel panic from booting from a cd. Yikes. That's not good. I suspect ram. Can you yank out a chip and try again?

I put the CD in and hold down the C key. It starts reading the CD and after 3 mins, I get a multi language screen telling me to hold the power key down until it turns off ... and then turn it back on.

It keeps cycling through this over and over.

Any suggestions, please?
