Last month I purchased a HP Officejet Pro 8500A all in one printer that is advertised to to just what you want. However, before I was able to get the unit to work with airprint on my iDevices I spent about 1/2 day before finding that I needed to update the printer firmware via a download from the HP Web Site. Once updated the printer now works as one would expect and it is now easy to print from our 2 iPhone and 2 iPads. In fact, as I was replying to your query, my wife who is in another room, printed a coupon from her iPad to the printer next to me. Also, once set-up none of your computers need to be on to use the printer.
But simple it wasn't. And based on the lack of support and difficulty in uncovering the needed directions/firmware I would not recommend any of the HP printers that claim to be airprint ready unless the retailer is willing to set it up and allow you to do a test print at the store. YMMV
Cheers

Any recommendations from iPad users for a wireless printer that will work with AirPrint right out of the box positively absolutely never fails no issues and no firmware upgrade required? I want SIMPLE.
