The iPad can only hold so much magic and it takes a lot of magic to print stuff out.
So what they did is to send the stuff out of the iPad as simply a form as possible and make the printer just print it instead of having a printer language that required translation in the iPad that was trying to print to the printer. The no wires was also a great idea but as usual if you don't have the right stuff CHA CHING! You have to buy more stuff! Hey think of it this way, now you just buy a $60 printer without the additional $50 printer cable.
