Re: [iPad] unlimited ipad

Yes, regarding the new ipad - I know, waiting with bated breath - I need (ha - need, LOL - want) one before some travels at the end of March.   Really want one, really really...so have been checking rumors often to see how soon the prognosticators think it will be out.

If you have insider info (yeah, I know, you don't) then please tell me!

I would suggest he sell it on eBay. You both will end up with a better deal and happier.

ATT Can/Will know the iPad and data plan are transferred when you change the name, credit card, address etc. They have the ability to know when you catch a cold, just depends when they want to run the program to check.

Bet there are a bunch of people on this list or elsewhere delighted to sell you their iPads with unlimited plan for the retail price they paid. If mine had the unlimited plan I would have already sent you an email.

The new iPad should be out in a few weeks. Lots of nice new features.

Oh - so his thinking is that he's seeing used Ipads with unlimited data going for $1200 on ebay, and he thinks he's being generous selling it for his price, since it has the unlimited data plan (which could turn out to be transferrable, who knows?   I mean, how is AT&T going to know??)

And unlimited data is attractive...but the battery degradation is certainly a major issue.

Anyhow, thanks again for the input.  It's very much appreciated.

Sounds like a good friend with a terrific business acumen who doesn't let friendship stand in the way. Personally, I'd walk away from the deal for these reasons:

1. You're buying a used iPad. I don't know whether or not the warranty is transferable or not. Or whether or not any AppleCare service contract is, either. In any event, your friend is asking you to pay for his/her use of the machine and any battery degradation that has occurred.

2. As others have said, don't expect ATT to go along with the unlimited data plan when they find out about it.

3. Agreeing to split any possible profit you make if/when YOU might sell it seems rather wrong to me. Especially if your friend sells it to you for the same dollars paid. At the least, the price should be the same as a refurbished unit, and as others have said, less.
