Re: [iPad] No more CDs!

Exactly.  Most of my music is NOT on my iPad but backed up all over the place.

This is a response to several comments. "synced the music I want to my iPad" means not all of it, the rest is on the iMac hard drive from where I can also play it through the AppleTV. I mainly use Apple Lossless compression so the files aren't severely tortured. I calculate there is room on the hard drive for 250 more albums, and I can use an external drive if necessary. The iMac's files are backed up on an external drive and I have the original CDs stored outside the condo.

You must have compressed the heck out of those poor audio files to fit them all into 64GB or less of SSD.

Thanks for many posts in this group on the way to use the iPad as a music source. Inspired by these posts I've eliminated a bookcase full of audio CDs from my life. This is presently important to me because I've severely right-sized my life by moving from a four-bedroom house to a city condo. To attain the subject condition, I copied the CDs to my iMac, synced the music I want to my iPad, and use the iPod app with AirPlay to send the music to an AppleTV. The digital optical output of the AppleTV goes to a Monoprice digital optical to analogue electrical converter into my stereo amplifier thus to speakers. Viola!
