Also, stuff running poorly or even breaking is inevitable when Apple or anyone is determined to keep piling new features onto old software. The more stuff you pile on, cram in, the more unexpected consequences you get. It's mathematically impossible to test for all interactions. Eventually, a simple operating system becomes a tangled mess, which no one fully understands and which needs constant patching. It's up to the users to discover the bugs and, usually, to learn to live with them. And the users do. People don't complain much, if at all. We've become used to that state of affairs. Everything's always broken, in little and even big ways, and we've pretty much come to accept that as normal. I suppose that's one reason for all the pretty little changes: they distract from and help compensate for the flaws.
