Re: [iPad] Re: report on Apple TV vs Roku with luddite hubby

An example of the problem(s). Let us say I use Amazon prime on my phone and beam it to Airplay so me or some others in my house can see an Amazon movie or TV show on the Apple TV.

But I want to use my phone to google something, or use the FB app, or respond to or initiate a text, or I get a phone call while it is streaming. These things often interfere with the Airplay for 2 reasons:
1) instability and slowness when multi-tasking
2) a touch on the phone to change apps, pull up notification area or whatever accidentally pauses or stops a stream.
3) phone calls actually pause or stop the stream
4) Even if none of that happens I found the Amazon video app a bit crashy and buggy on my iPhone particularly when airplaying. And not buggy on Roku, Fire TV or smart TVs, smart Blurays.

Keep in mind I might not be watching the Amazon Prime. I may be playing it for a guest(s). So I have every reason to interact with my phone and text for example or use the FB app or email on my phone and that really interferes with streaming even on my 6+ which is fairly powerful, And if I got a call or wanted to make a private call and leave the room, there goes the streaming my guests are enjoying.

I found airplay of Amazon Prime to be very inconvenient compared to the built-in Roku channel/app and the Fire TV app and smart TV/BluRay apps which do not rely on my phone at any level.

An Apple TV Amazon Prime app would be a real nice thing just like it is with Roku, Fire TV and smart TVs/smart Bluray. It is a disadvantage for Apple to not have it.

Its the main reason I use the other 2 devices more. I dislike using my iPhone or iPad to beam the Amazon prime to Airplay because it is buggy, clumsy and not very reliable and ties up my device.
