SVOD is referenced here as Streaming Video On Demand, some refer to it as Subscription Video On Demand. Netflix, Hulu in the US and eslewhere, BBC iPlayer in the UK, Lightbox, Neon in NZ, SkyGo. And TV channels often have one as well.

Yep. For some not much, others more so. I'd be keen to try it on my iPad, but I just found iout that my NZ based TV  SVOD
 Lightbox won't work, so can;t check the iPad nerw features
