I have Magic Jack installed on my iPad. It works flawlessly with Google Voice. It costs me $20/yr.

P.S. I use the Magic Jack app and not the Magic Jack device.

No phone is needed for texting. Correct. But to call one needs it connected to a phone or money in your GV account. At least I can't call on mine using just internet b

~Kris M.\\ "Life is either a daring adventure or nothing." ~Helen Keller //Google Voice uses the Internet so it doesn't matter how you're connected. iMessage uses the Internet also.
PeteAs I understand it, on an iPhone, iMessage can send texts to any other cell phone because it uses a cellular connection rather than WIFI. iMessage on iPads using WIFI can only send to other Apple users. However, if the iPad is using a cellular connection can it send to all cell phones like the iPhone?CathyiMessage works between Apple devices which has limitations which is why I've never used it. I use Google Voice for texting since some of my friends use Android devices.

If the number is to a non apple phone the front is green. If it goes to an apple phone the font is blue. I can send a text message to an email address if it's to an apple person.
