As far as file system I think the iCloud disk thingy is about the most you'll get. But I'm not apple. Just a loyal 20 year user.  

As far as swapping out ram is say highly unlikely. Ditto for a USB card. That said there are a few USB dongles that are approved by apple and can be used for storage. Imobi and OTG are the two that come to mind posts couple wifi ones.
