Re: [iPad] Browser for iPads

Could I cable the Airport Express, so as not to lose speed?

I do that too, wifi to an extender. I wish to use Powerline to cable the extender, that is the best way to go. Full internet speed to the extender.

No, I use it wirelessly to extend my network with an Apple Time Capsule as the base station.

I use an Airport Express as an extender with excellent results.

Our home is small enough that just the new router should be adequate, even with plaster walls and two floors' distance.  Previously, we had the cable company's wifi and two access points, and even that was flakey.  Small bits of progress.  Crawling a little faster :o)

Funny thing.  To extend the router's range a bit, I tacked on an external antenna.  It was fine for a while; then, after a few days, the 2.5GHz band became unusable.  No idea why.   Untacked it, and all's well.

Cable? You mean inside your home ?

I think the point is not to use wifi at a point where the speed and coverage is poor. Use wifif, but have extenders cables so your wifi is always near and at the best it can be. As if you walk around your home and your wifi accesspoint is always nearby

I just got a new wifi router.  5GHz is faster, but older devices don't see it.  And, as the article points out, it has less range, so things still aren't quite perfect here :o)

But, I never plan to go back to cable, just as many people will never go back to landline phones.  Life means constantly making tradeoffs.

I bought an airport apple wifi the year they came out and haven't had any issues. But anecdotal evidence isn't real evidence...

Possibly. With all due respect I greatly value Steve Bioddles tech skills in networks and wifi, those were his comments. All I know is that Apple's wifi is not the same as everyone elses, wifi issues with Apple is becoming a monthly issue, yet its just a basic and mature function these days. The latest MacRumours article is interesting. Without exageration I read similar wifi issue articles regularly. Ive not had any issues though, and I dont use an Apple router, although I want to

Nah. I think we are missing each other. I think they are adopting the spec before its a spec as they did last time. Then the spec changes. Meh.

Is this the niche that you hope for? We can avoid the wifi issues as they are non standard by buying Apple routers. That is
