Re: [iPad] Browser for iPads

Ratification with the wifi alliance ensures compatibility. Same with SMB. They are both not 100% compatible, and as being proprietary and not 100% compatibleseems to be part of Apple mindset, that makes sense. Pity, as Apple seems to have many wifi issues pop up with each update, but elsewhere in the industry you never hear of it, as everyone else builds to the same standard. A network guru here who runs his business of building and supporting networks, has customer wifi issues in a 9-1 ratio with Apple. 9 Apple wifi issues to 1 non Apple issue.

To say " Why would they be ratified with the wifi alliance?" seems to say that you want them to be different. That you want them to not adhere to industry standards. Is this the niche that you hope for? We can avoid the wifi issues as they are non standard by buying Apple routers. That is Steve's recommendation.

On a related note I seem to have found a workaround to my inability to copy files consistently across my basic wifi network to a basic SMB media server (WDTV Live) . Apple  Workaround 8 hopefully resolved

I love my Apple gear but this can be a bit of a pain doing stuff I always took for granted.

Why would they be ratified with the wifi alliance? Are you talking about ac? That hasn't hit spec yet so just like with n they are using it before spec is finished. At least that's my understanding.

I'm talking about when I built HTML pages that passed compliance checks 100% safari had zero problems. Zero. And if I remember correctly safari was usually among the best at the acid tests. Like 99%. That's why chrome went WebKit. if I remember correctly. (Admittedly it's been a few years since I was doodling in HTML. 2012 to be exact. Early 2012. And that's aeons in HTML. ) so my thought was that if safari still beats the pack at rendering compliant web pages then the code that your sure is spitting out is got an error that most browsers compensate for that safari doesn't. And unfortunately I do not have the tools to check it AT THE MOMENT. But soon. Soon. Very soon.

Are they sending compliant code? Ime Safari always tenders complaint code very well.

I do use Zillow, but MRIS sends much more detailed listings. Pretty much the same as I see as an agent, with a few pieces of information withheld.

Have you tried using Zillow?  It's easy to send a listing from the app to a potential buyer.

IMHO Safari is worthless. It is so locked down that many sites don't show up at all. Also, another problem with Apple mobile devices is that without jail-breaking the device you cannot change the default browser to something like Chrome. It kills me as a real estate agent as when I send listings to potential clients, they can't see those listings unless they go through ridiculous copying of the ling and pasting in a sane browser to view them. Most people are not that savvy that they can do that. I have no idea how many clients never get to see the listings I am trying to send to them to evaluate.

Apple is very arrogant and they want to control everything. They could have it all if they would compromise a bit and let people have some flexibility. Personally I think the Apple product line can't be beat for quality, but the fact that so much cannot be adjusted, it makes it unusable in many cases.

Good luck to all of us if this is the future of computing.

For me Safari is really bad, links don't work gave the time. My friend told me about Mercury. There is a free copy and a pro copy in the App Store. Based on my friends recommendation I bought the pro copy for 99¢. It much better.
