A high pixel count, in a given sensor size, leads to small pixels, which have a poor low-light response and lead to poor quality in low-light situations.
The Lumia 41 mp sensor has a mode specifically designed to solve this problem — it "over-samples", combining multiple pixels into a single larger virtual pixel.
As a result, it produces better quality low-light images — but at 5 megapixel resolution.
Some of these products really look more like point-and-shoot cameras with some cell-phone functions than to do mature PDA's with camera functions.
When my primary need is quality imaging, I use my ILC, with bigger pixels and real interchangeable zoom lenses.
The photographic purpose of my iPhone is to get reasonable quality images on the spur of the moment, wherever I happen to be.
