Re: [iPad] Playing audiobook

I just purchased a cheap sudiobook book thru itunes.  What happened then, I'm not sure.  There seems to be no unique location/category for audiobooks purchased thru itunes.  The book just disappears.  If I search for it in the store, the search results tell me that it's "downloaded", but I have no idea to where, and I can't play it in itunes.  If I leave itunes and pull down an ipad search from an apps page, it's there, but the category, oddly, is not fixed.  The first few times I searched, it was listed under "audiobooks", but it opened in Music.  The most recent time I searched, it was listed in "Top Hits", or something like that.  Crazy.  When I look for it among my music, it's not there.  So far, the only way I can see to access an audiobook purchased thru itunes, then, is by doing an iPad search.  Crazy.  It's as tho Apple doesn't expect anyone to buy audiobooks from them.  TNWTRARR.

The Overdrive and Audible audiobooks apps have always worked just as one would expect.  What Apple's trying to do with audiobooks purchased thru itunes is a mystery to me, too.
if you ever figure it out, I'd be grateful if you'd let me in on the secret.

My books are all purchased from Audible and downloaded to iTunes. Six books show up on Apple TV but not the others. Odd because they were all purchased from Audible and downloaded to iTunes. For many years I was an Audio Awards Judge. We judges used to get a huge box of books each year to listen to and judge, the books came mostly on CD and some as cassette tape. Then six or seven years ago Audio Publishers Assn made arrangements to get the books to judges by download through Audible. So this has never been an issue until the last couple of weeks. It must be on Audible side. I need to call them first of the weekL

It's probably a feature, documented on page 46 or 87 or buried in release notes to the penultimate iTunes upgrade :0)

Could you give an example of a specific book and how you got it and how you stored it?

Most of my audiobooks have come from Audible or the local library, thru Overdrive.

Oh, I should add that ATV is not playing audiobooks from my iPads or iPhone either. They are in the Music app in the Audiobooks part.
