I picked up the 2597, life time maps and traffic, plus voice activated. Should be here next Thursday.

I am thinking I will call "her" Two B,,, bring it will be my second GPS unit, and the current one has the nickname of "the bitch"... Lol

Personally, I agree with you.; I think the added cost is well worth it for
lifetime updates.

The Garmin 42 is $109.99 and you get to pay for map updates.
The Garmin 42LM is $129.99 and you don't have to pay for map updates.
All the other models I saw in a quick look were priced the same way -- with
lifetime map updates was $20 more than the same device without the lifetime
map updates.
$20 for map updates for the life of the device seems to me to be a good
deal, when buying a map update seems to be $59.99 for a single update.

Nowhere do I see on the Garmin web-site the claim that their lifetime map
updates include the word "free."
