Perhaps you don't understand how the program works.  If I elect to swap the battery in my 85kwh S, it is $80.  Supposedly takes 90 seconds. Or, I can fast charge it for free at a Tesla charging station, this gets me about 200 miles (advertised) on a 30 minute charge. Both are vapor ware where I live, but I think I would choose to wait 30 minutes, assuming a supercharger was available.   However, having to do this every 200 miles is a PITA. 

BTW, the EPA rates my (former) S at 89 mpge, but this was based on $3.40/gal gas and 12 cents/kwh elec cost, and no radio/light/heater/ac use.

Of course I imagine there will be some additional cost for charging that battery but I don't believe it comes even close in comparison to the cost of fossil fuel costs.

Does Elin really expect me to pay $80 (for the higher capacity battery, I assume) which will only comfortably get me a but over 200 miles (before wife gets squeamish) when the same amount spent for gas gets me further in any of my gas cars?  Almost as bad as his other stunts.
