The Prius has a gas engine, it's not 100% electric.
You don't ever have to plug it in if you don't want to.

I think they drive electric though and gas is used to start?
They do not use much, so I have heard.

With the solitary exception of the Plug-in Prius, every Prius built and sold by Toyota since 2000 gets *ALL* of its power from burning gasoline (or gasoline plus a little ethanol).
It is exceptionally efficient because it re-uses the energy it gets from burning gas over and over and over again, and can store some of it in a more readily usable form.
