Yes I've done that and after the apple icon fades out (20-30 sec) the iPad icon comes up in the center and the slide switch at the bottom says 'slide to set up'... but it will not slide. Thanx for sticking with me on this, Bobby

What else can I do?
I cannot tell from your description if you have done an actual reBOOT:
While plugged in to power, press the Home button AND the On/Off button at the same time, AND HOLD THEM pressed until the white Apple logo appears. Then let it alone until it completes the re-booting operation.
