Re: [iPad] Here’s Your First Look at Apple’s New TV Show

Somehow rubbish reality tv is watched by many and generates huge piles of revenue.

The Apple logo only goes so far. When it gets mixed in with rubbish reality TV, it becomes no better then a bad neighbourhood

Technically it's a game show I think.

That's my thinking too. High end products deserve high end, no matter what it is. Makes me think Apple is going on their name instead of trying to keep their name high end.

Of course people will buy into it because it has the Apple logo on it. I just don't like seeing Apple lower itself to such mindlessness as reality TV.

I agree, but a reality show? Apple is supposed to be a high end company, and getting involved in a low end, bottom of the barrel reality show is not great for the brand.

Either you pay someone to make it or you make it. They already make "music programming" so "video programs" are a logical step. And. And!! Helping to breathe life into the App Store is a good idea. They show? I don'k know if it's a good idea but I can see the how and why.

Apprentice, Shark Tank, same thing. Entertaining if you like it, nothing wrong with that, but why Apple wants to get into reality TV, which is the worst TV I have no idea...

Fully agree

If they did a weekly doco on Apple, just light stuff, that would add value to the brand. Info, hints, history etc.  But to add the 1232nd scripted reality show is strange. Quality and reality shows cannot be used together.

Or its just a copy of Trumps reality show.  (I mean The Apprentice....)

I hate to see Apple doing this stuff.  But that's where Cook & Associates are taking it.  Follow the money, collect the cash, feed the shareholders.

I suppose Apple can't spin off tech, since their big cash cow is the iPhone, but it would be pleasant to see at least a core get back to basics, isolated from the entertainment culture.  Maybe that division can happen inside Apple.  I wonder whether the employees ever talk about it.  Nah, more likely they're all being programmed to think like good company loyalists.
