Hrm. Here we disagree. It's apple's ecosystem that they built from the ground up. In my opinion they can charge whatever they wish as long as they do not conspire with other companies to lock other people out which is what at least one article was inferring. I'm okay with the charging but but the coercion. I am also okay with the sprint telephone company charging whatever they want and there too as long as they don't conspire with other companies to keep the services high unnaturally.
Now. That said. Is it possible for me to go to www.spotify.com or call their toll free number and sign up for their paid service and then giro my phone and get the app and the service? Without Apple taking a cut? If so that seems like a small hurdle to overcome.

Yep. The app store sells apps that devs write and takes a 30% cut, no issue with that. But they do that with subscriptions as welland disallow an external buy event from the app, therefore double dipping on the margin for subscriptions
