If you have a hard press naturally then it could be physical. I have seen an iPhone 4 do this and that was my guess at the time. I'm doubting that its software but on the chance the outside chance that it is I would say backup then erase the whole thing and see if that helps but i doubt it will.

Hi, I have an iPad 3 Verizon version. Lately the home button has not been working. I have to press it several times and often it still does not work. If I push the on/off button twice and then push the home button, that may make it work. It is becoming quite annoying. What is going on? Can it be fixed?
