Consider, however, that at this point, Apple's profit on an iPad 2 is probably larger than on a new model..


Would be, if anyone buys it.  If its only purpose is to make the new models more attractive, it's a curious sort of marketing.  What other merchandiser does that?  Auto showrooms don't have two-year-old models taking up floor space just to make the current model look better.
