I have my own reasons to believe that 9" iPad will never be abandoned.
Even I am looking for my iPad replacement for a faster one with much bigger storage, later this year.

I have finally saved up enough $ for a new iPad. My old iPad is the iPad 3 and it has been relegated to a apple tv controller as it no longer holds a charge and has a demolished screen.

Anyways …. I have finally saved up enough $ only to hear the rumor not only of a new iPad in the works but it may be a 10" and due to come out in Fiscal 2017. 

The 12 inch is too big, the 9" is OK, and the 10" would be just right … but it's just a rumor.

Sigh.
