I find that happens during a sync, as if the sync, which is changing content on the device, loses the numbers per category as this is changing. If the sync finished you should find it sorts itself out, or perhaops the next time it is attached

I was doing a hardwire sync to my iMac and in the iPhone info page on iTnes, I saw apps, music… the usual… But then this large yellow full of "OTHER" to the tune of 13.84 GB. What in the heck is "Other" and how could I get rid of at least some of it?
