Sorry, Jim, my post was misleading. They never promised to replace for loss or theft, only non-functioning or damage, including screen breakage. I'm not sure about water damage, sorry. And, if I recall correctly, the cost to replace a device now is $79 plus tax, for up to two instances.

This deductible varies by product:
iPhone — $79
iPad — $49
Apple Watch — $69 for aluminum, $79 for steel, $1000 for gold.
