Interesting. I had the impression that this group was generally above the paranoia and only recommended the occasional scan if you often send or receive files from Windows friends. In other words, so you aren't a carrier.

For that, I occasionally run ClamXAV. It's free, simple, and kept up to date.

The only true Mac malware out right now is that phony "Mac Defender" app, and you have to give it permission to install. If your OS is up to date, Apple now has built-in protection against Mac Defender, and that system updates itself every 24 hours as of yesterday (or manually, if you have some savvy).

So, as always: We aren't immune, but there still isn't much out there to be worried about yet.
